A heritage is not something to rest upon… it is something to build upon.
America has buried and forgotten her Reformed Christian history, and the tools required to unearth that history have been ravaged by postmodernist academics and forsaken by compromised theologians in American pulpits. It is not good enough, however, to uncover the truth of America’s Christian heritage merely to enshrine facts… No, we must restore America’s Reformational spirit and recover her biblical foundations if we are to solve our present crises or have any hope for the future.
Toward this end, The Reformation of History: Realizing a Forgotten Heritage presents both historical content—from the origins and impact of the Reformation to the Christianity of the Founding Fathers—and the biblical philosophy of history and politics that Christians must employ to interpret and apply that historical content.
In order to resume the abandoned hope of our Christian forefathers, we must begin to view Christian history as they did—not as a back-looking monument to a golden age of faith, but as a vital guide for the conquest of the future. Recall the past. Reclaim the present. Recapture the future.

Description of Talks:
The Christian Philosophy of History - Dr. Roger Schultz explains how a Christian should view history: as God-centered, Christ-oriented, morally interpreted by biblical standards, and made meaningful by God’s linear redemptive plan. He goes on to explain how Paul, in his sermon on Mars Hill, used a Christian philosophy of history to engage Greek philosophers in “worldview evangelism.”
Christianity and Postmodernist Historiography - Since all facts are interpreted facts, no historian can be neutral—he will draw from his core commitments to make sense of history. Roger Schultz identifies the postmodernist’s presuppositions (pluralism, relativism, revolution, and paganism), explains how they shape the postmodernist view of history, and parallels them to the levels of declension set down by Paul in Romans 1.
The Impact of the Reformation on America - Rev. David Hall outlines the standard theory of politics up to the time of John Calvin, which mandated the unqualified submission of citizens to divinely appointed monarchs, and shows how the Reformation’s exposition of a biblical theory of civil government, specifically elaborated in the anti-tyrannical writings of Calvin’s disciple Theodore Beza, was a necessary condition for both the American War for Independence and the establishment of biblical republicanism in America.
John Winthrop and a City on a Hill - Beginning with the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 and focusing on the sovereignty of God’s Providence in the unfolding of history, Bill Potter recounts the fascinating chain of events, and the important Reformation truths, that led to Puritan John Winthrop’s governorship of Massachusetts.
An Introduction to Authentic Christianity - Dr. Joseph Morecraft, III, explains why the Westminster Larger Catechism contains the best and fullest human expression of timeless biblical truth, and, as such, continues to be a relevant and essential tool today for individuals, families, and societies. The Reformed worldview it contains, he says, is “the only worldview … true enough and comprehensive enough to refute and overturn the comprehensive worldviews of humanism and Islam.”
The Worldview of the Founding Fathers - With both sweeping statistics and intimate portraits, Dr. John Eidsmoe employs source documents and incontestably sound deductions to refute roundly the unfounded modern assertion that America’s Founding Fathers were largely Deist or Christian by pretense. Eidsmoe establishes, rather, that the Founding Fathers were overwhelmingly Christian in thought and character.
Christian Political Theory is Kicking Against the Pricks - Joel McDurmon illustrates the evolution of the Two Kingdom theory from Augustine to Calvin to the present, examining the reasons for the relative vacuum of fearlessly biblical scholarship on history, politics, and economics. He contends that the Church will continue to decline into greater cultural irrelevancy until she discontinues her cowardly synthesis with humanism and enthrones God’s Law alone as the only rule for all of life and society.
Your Worldview is Dying - Wes Moore pinpoints globalism, the intellectual weakening of the church, and our abandonment of the Great Commission as the three major reasons for the decline of the biblical Christian worldview in America, and he gives practical measures enabling Christians to utilize the expanded opportunities of globalism, to remove intellectual obstacles from the path of the Gospel, and to embrace the Great Commission.
